Sugarcane Research Institute Vacancies

Applications are invited from the citizens of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka who possess the requisite qualifications to fill the following vacancies of the Sugarcane Research Institute at Uda Walawe.

1. Technical Officer  (MA 2-2) 
(Subject area: Crop & Resource Management)

Qualifications:
External : 

G.C.E. (O/L) six subjects with four credits including Sinhala/Tamil, English, Mathematics and Science.                                                                                                      

AND

G.C.E. (A/L) in Science with three passes in one sitting with a two-year Diploma not below the N.V.Q. Level 5 from a recognized institution approved by the relevant government authority.

Internal :  

a) A pass in G.C.E. (O/L) in one sitting with four credits inclusive of Mathematics, Science and Language (Sinhala/Tamil/English)          

AND

b) Minimum of five (05) years experience in a Primary Level Unskilled, Semi-skilled and Skilled Category with a Diploma not below the N.V.Q Level 5 approved by the relevant government authority.

2. Management Assistant (Clerical & Typing) (MA 1-2)   

Qualifications:
External:  

G.C.E. (A/L)  with  three  passes  in  one sitting

AND

G.C.E. (O/L) with six  subjects in one sitting with four credit  passes including in Sinhala/Tamil/English and Mathematics                                                   

AND

Speed in word processing in English using Computer and Typewriter should be minimum of 50 and 40 WPM respectively.

Note:  Knowledge in word processing in Sinhala and Tamil will be a distinct advantage

Internal:   

G.C.E. (O/L) in six subjects with four credits  including Mathematics and Language (Sinhala/English/Tamil)

AND

Minimum of five years satisfactory service in a permanent post in the “Primary Level” skilled, semi-skilled or un-skilled.

3. Management Assistant (Accounts)     –  (MA 1-2) 

Qualifications: 
External   :    

 Three passes in G.C.E. (A/L) with a credit in Accountancy in one sitting.

AND

G.C.E. (O/L) in 6 subjects in one sitting with four credit passes including in Sinhala/Tamil/English and Mathematics

AND

Knowledge in computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet and presentations)

 Internal     :                   

G.C.E. (O/L) in  six subjects with four credits including in Sinhala/Tamil /English and Mathematics.

AND                                         

Minimum five years satisfactory service in a permanent post in the “Primary Level” –  Skilled, Semi-skilled or Un-skilled.

AND

Knowledge in computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet and presentations)

(MA-2-2) : 2016 – Rs. 30310 – 10 x 300 – 07 x 350 – 04 x 600 – 20 x 710 – 52360/=
(MA -1-2) : 2016 – Rs. 27910 – 10 x 300 – 07 x 350 – 12 x 600 – 12 x 710 – 49080/=

Method of Selection:  

On the results of a written competitive examination and a structured interview.

Age Limit (on the date of closing applications):

Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years. The upper age limit will not apply to the internal candidates.

Rent-free quarters will be provided, if available.

Provident Fund

The employee will be required to contribute 10% of the salary to the Employees’ Provident Fund while the Institute will contribute 15%. The Institute will also contribute 3% to the Employees’ Trust Fund.
